I havent fallen off the edge of the earth! I am back at university for the final term of the year, I really cannot believe it. I am quite happy to live in denial of the approaching exams :S I had a lovely easter time with one highlight being the amazing Datsuns gig in Stoke :D I am enjoying cycling around in the spring time sunshine. I am off now to have a cup of tea and get an early night, very rock and roll! x

I am sat in my little room, desperately trying to write a good essay! Louise next door is playing some nice realxing music. The sun is shinning but its freezing out. I cycled into lectures and back again today, I am getting pretty confident :) alice and I had lunch at our shinny new college buttery and decided that one afternoon soon we are going to give pool a go. Friday should be nice, my cousin Duncan, his girlfiend Jenny and I are going out for dinner. I am so so lucky. I am healthy and happy, comfortable, a few worries, but not too many. Valentines day in a couple of weeks time :S Where's cupid when you need him!

Sooooo coooold [25 Nov 2005|08:41pm]
[ mood | content ]

Im all cosy, sat in bed snuggled up wearing my knitted jumper and under the duvet,my feet up on a chair with a pillow covering them and my laptop on my knee :) A bowl of cheerios minus the milk and a cup of tea beside me. Listening to the libertines and relaxing... blissss
I have been cold for so much of today. I had to spend time in the freeeezing cold library as the book were only avaliable on reserve. However, my supervision went well :D She said the essay was splendid :D Sam and I walked back, nattering away. I was going to go to a party tonight or at least go to the college bar with everyone but I am enjoying this doing nothing too much! I went ou last night and had fun. I have one more essay to go and 7 more nights. I love having my own room, my own space, this form of independence too, this will be worth the debt :p This christmas is going to be a wierd experience but at the moment I am just excited about seeing my dad, my best friend, my brothers and sisters, my grandma and grandad and my granny, the cats, lady doggy, teachers and other friends at presentation evening, oh, and seeing hillllls! its so darn flat here :p

My dad is visiting me in about an hours time :D Life here is busy but I am enjoying it. Ive relaxed more in the last week, less play and steadier work! Im loving the course. The fireworks in town last night were stunning, absolutely breathtaking, the best that I have ever seen. i ate lots of sweetss and a toffee apple tooo :) It does remind me of the years going by as well because I can so clearly remember last years bonfire night on the beach at Scarborough with my geography class. Im still awaiting the next datsuns album patiently (sort of!).. its gona be awesome.

First, to comment on my last entry :) The Datsuns and the White Stripes totally rocked :D Anywho, since then its been a long long summer. I stayed at my Grannys house in Scotland for 3 weeks and since then ive been reading lots, playing guitar, enjoying my Laptop (got for university) and going to the cinema. Most bizzare thing to happen since my last entry is going with my dad and his friend (who is a lighting man) to the club in london that his friend works at and getting to do the lighting for a while, which was really fun. Plus yesterday a friend had a party at which we could listen to rock music, which was cool :D Oh actually biggest thing to happen was getting my exam results. An A in Geography and B's in History and Biology. That day was a roller coaster of emotions day! So im off to Cambridge on October 2nd :D

Serbia, EXIT festival [07 Aug 2005|04:49pm]
[ mood | hot ]

Im writing from novi Sad in Serbia. At last my dad and i have found an internet cafe!! We are just relaxing here really. Weve not found much to do in the town. I think that they hide these art gallerys, theatres and museums that are supposed to exist down back alleys and disguise them as houses to make them extra difficult to find!! Sunday should be fun, im looking forwards to seeing the Datsuns and the White Stripes. We arew going to go to see Garbage tonight. The festival only gets going after dark but your best getting there at 4pm if you dfont want to be queuing with hours of serbians for several hours. The appartments that we are staying in are really nice, with tv (watch pokemon in serbian!! haha) and nice bathroom and then a patio and a very nice colourful garden. I sat out there for a couple of hours this morning reading clive cussler and drawing. Most people who have come to the festival have come for the dance music (all the top DJs are here apparently).
The journey here was crazy but certainly an experiance and an adventure!!We raced to get on the train in order to get a seat and thank goodness we did run as many people were sat on their bags in the corridors for the 5 hour journey. Not many people can say that they spent a night on a train traveling from hungary to sebia next to two young tipsy serbians singing along to the smiths on their cd walkmans and waking up at 4.30 to the english people down the train singing sympathy for the devil :P (hoo hooo) I wish i knew this language at least a little bit though. We havent come across any english people since the train, we may as well be in japan! Only english speaker was one australian man who gave us some directions.
The location of the festival is beautiful, up in the old fortress you can see right to the horizon
(this countries almost flatter than belgium!) There is a metal stage, blues stage, main stage, ragae style one and what not. We gave a serbian band a chance yesterday but i just found it hilarious to be stood amongst serbian fans all singing along in serbian. Then a woman came on stage who sung blondies 'call me' in her accent, like careoke, but the crowd loved it.
This countries nice but just like when im ever abroad i know that im going to appreciate England even more when i get home. Britain rocks it really does. We are a rich country andwe have clean water through the taps and you dont smell sewerage and everywhere isnt covered in graffitti. We saw a church earlier graffitid with 'jesus is dead punk isnt'. Almost all the women here are long legged and slim and almost everyone smokes like a chimney.
Eeeee what an experience. It is brilliant spending time with dad though. I have learnt about myself that i need to be less anxious and more able to just sit around a chill, not worrying.

The Datsuns Rock [24 Jan 2005|09:13pm]
I wont give a full account of my Dastuns experience but all that really needs to be said is that they are still amazing live. I saw them last Sunday supporting Velvet Revolver ( who were not very good at all). I was second row back close to Dolf and was having the time of my life. I cannot wait to finish my camera film and get the photos processed. Truely fantastic. Pictures : Read more...Collapse )

Wow, ive not updated in a long while! I woke up so late this morning that it was after my first lesson ended, eeky. But then my mobile phone rang and I got the news that ive been waiting for for ages. Hommerton College in Cambridge are going to offer me a place which is fantastic. Then an hour later I got a UCAS letter in the post. Durham has decided not to offer me a place. So im a bit shakey at the momment, all this life changing stuff is fairly challlenging emotionally :P

Lots to do [02 Nov 2004|03:59pm]
[ mood | anxious ]

Doing lists like this is most probably an abuse of livejournal! At least it should be. pointless, distressing and probably irritating for the people who you are on the friends list of! But here goes:

300 word plan for history coursework (coursework exam in approximately 2 weeks time)
1000 words of notes for same coursework exam
somehow rent and watch the film about Gandhi
Biology coursework , the longer i leave it the more i forget from the fieldtrip
iminent gography coursework (fieldtrip this weekend)
2 physical geography essays- supposedly for tomorrow
Human geography essay (v confusing and borring, tourism, economics zzzz)(due in earlier today, oops)
Make a model of a coastal defence thingy for geography.- for friday
Learn more about how to handle an interview (interview at Liverpool university a week tomorrow)
read up on ancient history for my interview.
Complete more forms sent to me by Cambridge university - to be posted very soon
book my driving theory exam
make a tape for the fieldtrip this weekend (haha im the only one thats remembered that the minibuses only have tape players)
ewrite a birthday card to my aunty
buy a 18th birthday pressy for my sister
stop biting nails, before damage is irreparable (may be to late for that)

stuff like change my bed, iron, etc.

Other things, to do, yet not classed as chores:
buy my best friend a birthday present, preferably a good one.
practice my pieces on my guitar even more so that at guitar group the new 11 year old member doesnt out-play me (pathetic i know! :p)
Keep in touch with friends
Buy the latest book in the Lian Hearn trilogy
get more sleep
Get on and do things
look forwards to getting back to a routine (I never thought id hear myself say that)

I got back form visiting my granny yesterday. Its a shame i couldnt stay for as long as usual but im so glad that I went anyway. My Aunt and Uncle visited and it was good to catch up on all the news, the Berlin trip gave me lots to talk about too.

At least someone out there has calculated that I am most like this beautiful mystical creature (found on the user page of a livejournal user thats nicely friended me, theowatts ):):
unicorn
You're like a Unicorn!
